Priceline
Connected Trip

Priceline is an online travel agency with a mission to be the best travel dealmakers in the world. We wanted to introduce a set of new features and displays to better connect users’ related bookings.

The aim of the connected trip initiative is to create a seamless end-to-end experience that integrates various elements of a user’s trip into unified and personalized itineraries. The goal of this initiative is to enhance convenience for users and create a frictionless booking and management experience. As I work alongside the post booking and site experience teams, I’ve designed a handful of features to drive this initiative forward, creating meaningful user experiences and positive business impact.

Grouped Trips

Sometimes, a user will book their flight first, then their hotel a few days or weeks later, rather than booking all at once. In doing so, a user would see multiple different bookings for the same trip (a booking for the flight, then a booking for the hotel), making navigating between said bookings difficult and cumbersome. To alleviate some of this friction, we redesigned the My Trips page to show bookings with the same date range as connected via a grouped UI display.

Persistent Trip on Confirmation Page

The hypothesis for this new feature was as follows: By displaying a user’s related upcoming trips on their confirmation page, we will see less customer care contacts & increased user satisfaction with our post booking experience. This component was designed & developed with flexibility in mind for future use cases. Upon click, the user will be taken to the confirmation page for the separate bookings.

What’s Next…

Following the success of the new persistent trip feature coupled with the grouped trips display for users on their My Trips page, we will continue to iterate and improve via further A/B testing. We will also be exploring more features and redesigns that we can take on in the future to drive this initiative further.
